PRIVATE TRAINING

Bark Avenue offers private one-on-one training. Private training allows us to build a training plan that is specifically designed for you and your dog. We will work together to find the training method that works best for you, your family and your dog. The focus and flexibility of private training is the most efficient way to achieve results.

Bark Avenue’s approach to training is a balanced style that focuses on relationship building. This is achieved through stimulating games and positively reinforcing appropriate behaviors. Our main objective is to help your dog understand what behavior we’re looking for while keeping the training sessions fun, calm and stress-free.

Bark Avenue Montreal is proud to offer a large variety of dog training solutions including, but certainly not limited to: Puppies 101 (creating routines, feeding schedules, setting boundaries, building trust and confidence, socialization, etc.), Basic Obedience (Sit, Stay, Down, Come, Wait, Look, Heel, Place), the “Perfect Walk”, leash reactivity, addressing separation anxiety, improving dog to dog and/or dog to human interactions, correcting fear-based behaviors, etc. We are also well versed in dog introduction lessons which will prepare your dog to meet a baby, a 2^nd dog, a new family member, etc., into the home.

Consistency and predictability are crucial to a dog’s development and healthy mental state, so we encourage anyone involved in your dog’s day-to-day life to attend the training lessons. Each training lesson is broken down into easily understandable segments and ends with a short Q&A period.

Our training sessions are offered both at home and in our facility. Depending on what issues are being addressed, Bark Avenue will recommend the location best suited to deliver results most effectively. Please note travel fees may apply when training off-site.

1 Hour Training

Our 1-Hour Training lessons are great for owners who want to be involved and participate in the training process. During these training sessions the owner is hands-on while the dog is being trained. We walk the owner through every step of the training process and instruct the owner on how best to continue this training at home.

Day Training

This is a terrific training option for owners who have previously done training with us and now feel their dog could use a refresher or for owners who don’t have the time to participate in training sessions during the week.  Day Training allows your dog to benefit from a fun-filled day that includes multiple training sessions and the opportunity to socialize with other dogs in daycare. At the end of the day, the owner will have the pleasure of picking up a happy, improved and exhausted dog. Please note a daycare evaluation is required to ensure your dog is eligible for daycare. 

The drop-off time for Day Training is between 7am and 8am and pick-up is between 5pm and 6pm. This schedule guarantees the dog gets the most training and socialization possible out of their day. We recommend a 1-Hour lesson after Day Training in order to pass the lesson on to the owner so training can continue at home, whenever possible.

Board and Train

Bark Avenue offers several Board and Train programs. Each program has its own benefits, however all our Board and Train programs offer the following advantages:

Fast Results

By working with your dog in small increments throughout the day in a repetitive, consistent, and structured environment your dog will retain more information in a shorter period of time.

All-encompassing Training

Depending on the specific needs and objectives of your training program, we can offer additional benefits such as daycare socialization, training in public and the introduction of specific stimuli that may be an issue for your dog which can be difficult to achieve in the outside world due to safety concerns. 

Stress-Free

Training is not only time consuming, but it can also be stressful and discouraging at times. Let us take that stress away by working through the difficult and challenging stages for you.

Customizable Programs

Board and Trains allow us to spend a considerable amount of time with your dog which allows us to really get to know them. This helps us customize a program that is perfect for their specific needs and method of learning.

Monday to Friday Board and Train program

This is the perfect option for owners with dogs that are experiencing more intense issues that require more routine, or for people who don’t have the time to train their dog every day due to their busy schedules but do have weekends available to spend time with them. 

\The schedule for Monday to Friday Board and Train is a Monday drop-off between 7am and 8am and a Friday pick-up between 4pm and 6pm. The dog will receive a full 5 days of training and at the end of each week the owner will receive a 45-minute lesson so they can see what their dog has learned during the week and practice over the weekend.

Weekly Board and Train program

Our Weekly Board and Train program is designed for dogs who are exhibiting stronger behaviors that require more focused training or for owners who are looking to achieve results as quickly and efficiently as possible.

This seven days a week structured program is the most effective way to help your dog reduce and eventually remove negative behaviors and replace them with more appropriate ones.

A 1-Hour Training lesson is included with every two-week Board and Train. This private lesson ensures that everyone involved in the dog’s day-to-day life understands the training that has been accomplished and what is required to maintain the improved behaviors moving forward.  The length of stay is relative to your dog’s behaviors.

Our Weekly Board and Train program is also very well-suited for owners going on holiday who want to take advantage of their dog’s time boarding by including training.
